My name is Garrett Huyler and I have been coaching/competing in the high jump for 12 years. During this time I have learned one valuable key to success, overtraining is far worse than undertraining. I have taken the saying "train smarter, not harder" to heart the past 2 seasons and that along with using Zensah's products religiously I have stayed healthier and had better marks as a result. During the 2013 season I had my best finish at a USA Championship Meet finishing in the Top 5 at the Indoor meet in Albuquerque, NM and set a lifetime best of 7'3" earlier that year. Two weeks ago, in the first weekend of the 2014 season I cleared another lifetime best of 7'4" and am excited for what the upcoming season holds.
I have seen many athletes suffer injuries from overwork varying from tendonitis, to muscle pulls, to stress fractures. After each injury they have to take time away from the sport to rehab and then struggle to return in the same or worse condition than they were in before they were hurt. Body maintenance is key to seeing big gains and I believe this is true across all sports as time on the sidelines is time that could be spent improving with smart training. Using the right equipment and clothing, foam rolling, stretching, icing, and not overworking has allowed me and the athletes I coach to take more steps forward without taking unnecessary steps backward.
Garrett Huyler is a high jumper who represents Zensah at his competitions. He has a personal best of 7'4" inches and finished in 5th place at the USA National Championships in 2013. Garrett uses Zensah Compression Socks and other products as part of his training and recovery.
