The two times weightlifting woman of the year (2012 and 2013) in Iceland, Anna Hulda Ólafsdóttir, will compete in theEuropean Weightlifting Championship tomorrow in Tel Aviv, Israel. No Icelander has competed in the European Weightlifting Championship since 1988 and Anna Hulda will be the first Icelandic woman ever to take part in the competition.
Anna Hulda will compete in the 63B women’s group and she will compete at 11:30 local time (8:30 Icelandic time) tomorrow.
Anna Hulda won the Icelandic Olympic Weightlifting Championship last year by breaking three Icelandic records in women’s 63 kg (139 lbs) weight class when she snatched 68 kg (150 lbs), cleaned & jerked 87 kg (192 lbs) and got the combined weight of 155 kg (142 lbs).
Her current records in the 63B category are now 75 kg (165 lbs) snatch and 92 kg (203 lbs) clean&jerk for a combined weight of 167 kg (368 lbs).
She also currently holds 3 Icelandic records in the 58 kg (128 lbs) weight class with a 68 kg (150 lbs) snatch, 86 kg (190 lbs) c&j and a combined weight of 154 kg (340 lbs).
On top of that, Anna Hulda was elected female weightlifter of the year in Iceland, both in 2012 and 2013.
Anna Hulda also trains and competes in CrossFit and is among the best athletes in Iceland. She did very well in the recent Worldwide CrossFit Open competition and made it through to the CrossFit European Regionals which takes place in Denmark this May. Last year she made it all the way to the CrossFit Games - Fittest on Earth competition with her team from CrossFit Reykjavík.
